Overall, 5% of all CEOs intend to invest in bitcoin by the end of this year, and another 11% plan to do so by 2024. The remaining 84% of those surveyed expressed their concerns about the high risks associated with volatility. At the same time, more than 70% of respondents said that so far they are more interested in what other companies are doing with cryptocurrency and how regulators look at it.
Gartner notes that among other concerns, managers cite the board’s failure to make a decision to invest in bitcoin, slow adoption as a payment method, a lack of understanding of the technology, cyber risks and the complexity of asset accounting.
The payment giants are planning to solve the problem of slow implementation in the near future. For example, this year MasterCard will add the ability to conduct cryptocurrency transactions to its network, and Visa is already testing a set of banking services for operations with cryptocurrency.
