Estonia has deployed a system of warning drivers about animals on the road

The newly installed system automatically detects when large animals are approaching the road and includes warning lights in the vicinity to reduce vehicle speed.

The goal of the innovation is not only to protect wildlife, but also to prevent injuries and accidents from collisions between cars and animals.

The new system uses roadside radars to detect animals approaching the roadside. When registering the fact of approaching the road, warning signs light up near the site, and the speed is limited to 70 km / h. They also turn off automatically as soon as the animal moves away from the border.

All drivers who see a warning signal and speed limit sign are advised by the Estonian Road Administration to continue driving with extreme caution and, if necessary, even stop and turn on the hazard warning lights.

As a reminder, at the beginning of the year, Ford introduced a bicycle jacket with an LED display that reflects warning signals.
